December 2007 release: "Serpent In Paradise" The eagerly awaited studio album of new material, "Serpent in Paradise" (some of which was performed at recent concerts in Roland van Steijn's Art of Sound Studios near Amsterdam, and which is produced by Roland), is now being mixed and mastered, and the artwork prepared. Expect a release date before Christmas.
It has a strong acoustic feel, and consists of 9 new ballads, 2 traditional tracks ("Gypsy Davy" and "Barbara Allen"), 2 native American/Canadian spiritual songs and a cover version of Ben Harper's "When she believes".
This album establishes Asher firmly in the 'great tradition' of romantic folk balladeers, and marks a further shift in direction away from new-age pieces, as with his other most recent recordings.
Asher is basically the pianist and singer, and Roland the guitarist. The lyrics are tender and poignant, yet occasionally startlingly full of shamanic imagery.
New Release "Songs of Love and Chains"Songs of Love and Chains was released on September 8th, 2007 by Asher. To order see
ALBUMSNew Release "High Planes Music"High Planes Music was released on May 7th, 2007 on Wolf-Eye Records.
The album consists of 15 of Asher's best known love songs, re- recorded in simplified form using cello, double-bass, piano or acoustic guitar and Asher's warm, caressing vocals. It also features Hungarian female singer Lila Mayi, accompanying and duetting.
This particular album was produced by old friend and colleague Phil Thornton in the UK, and was mastered by Roland van Steijn at his Art of Sound studios in the Netherlands. For its spine-tingling spiritual alchemy and goosebump-inducing beauty, High Planes Music has a significant 'wow' factor for established fans and new listeners alike.
